To everyone following the journey of the Maier Files,
I write to you today not just as the creator of this project, but as a keeper of a story that seems to have drawn some very unwelcome attention.
First, a necessary update: our primary merchandise shop at shop.maier-files.com has been taken offline for the foreseeable future. You may also find that some links to these items throughout the site are now broken. Please note: our separate print shop at printshop.maier-files.com remains online and operational, though its selection is more limited for now. This partial shutdown was not a planned change but a forced one, and I want to explain why with the honesty this strange tale deserves.
The Maier Files is, at its heart, a graphic novel. It is an attempt to breathe life into an old, almost-forgotten story about a man named Otto Maier—a story that speaks of deeper truths, spiritual longing, and the remembrance of a European soul and its values (the Minne). It is a work of art and a search for meaning.
It seems, however, that some forces in this world have a profound aversion to remembrance.
The Anatomy of a Digital Siege
What we have experienced is not a simple hack. It is a professional, multi-stage campaign.
It began with a long-term, low-and-slow reconnaissance of our entire digital presence. Our systems logged a targeted scraping of our site’s structure, emanating from a global network of both IPV4 and IPV6 addresses—a clear hallmark of significant, professional botnet infrastructure. This is not amateur hour.
This reconnaissance phase then moved to targeted harassment. The attacker flooded our primary WooCommerce shop with a continuous stream of fraudulent orders and fake membership sign-ups, an attempt to overwhelm and corrupt our systems from within.

Join Now →The most alarming escalation was an attempt to spoof emails from our domain. This is a technical attack designed to destroy our ability to communicate, ensuring any genuine email from us would be forever lost in spam filters. Their goal was to isolate us and silence this story.
When we successfully defended the main website and took the primary shop offline to contain the damage, they adapted. We are now witnessing a second wave of attacks, focused directly on the main maier-files domain, utilizing the same vast pools of IP addresses. The siege continues.
Why? The Question of Motive
One must wonder: why would anyone deploy such sophisticated resources against a graphic novel project?
The answer, I believe, lies not in what we are, but in what we represent. The story of Otto Maier is a vessel for ideas they fear: the re-awakening of spirit, the questioning of fraudulent financial systems, and the remembrance of who we are. The attacker’s own targets—esoteric knowledge, historical revisionism, and critiques of powerful systems—map perfectly onto the themes we explore. Their reaction is the highest validation that the path of remembrance is the right one.
Our Path Forward
Taking the primary shop offline was a necessary tactical decision to halt that vector of attack and protect the heart of our project. This is a temporary setback, not an end. We are fortified and monitoring the ongoing attacks on our main domain.
This experience has been clarifying. It has shown that the themes we explore—the hidden forces, the battle for memory—are not just abstract concepts. They are realities that still provoke a violent response from those who profit from our forgetfulness!
The work continues. The graphic novel will be finished. The search for truth goes on. Thank you for your steadfast support and for believing in a story that is clearly far more powerful than I ever imagined.
